GUARD SCULPTURE BY matteo pugliese

when I build up a space like very light and simple, but richness of texture, I need a sculpture like this as an ancient piece for my design.Normally I feel all of my space is working for this art and belong to the spirit of this art. It can bring deeply cultural sense which I can't do from interior architecture.

Twist Europen & Oriental hotel design in Macau

I always struggle as an interior designer having a desire of western culture from china. This hotel has the the theme of "asian heart"..what a cheating point...When people is talking about he has a asian heart, normally means he has western looking...wow...

So, don't be surprised of this design having mordern western color and clean cutting lines...give me some feedback if you like it or not..

Shanghai Ritz Hotel Chinese restaurant concept

I love conceptual design, which I am inspired by the people or landscape surrounding me. Does 5 star hotel like Ritz Carlton can't do innovative design? I think so, but I try.
This project is located in Shanghai, amazing city with high end brand ritz carlton, so I bring sophyciticated concept" Taihu stone is blooming flower in the water". I draw the shape from the organic stone shape, then make it geormetric form, which looks like lantern drop from high ceiling...it does make sense for this fine dining space. Whenever people sit down aside lantern, lighting will warm up mood and cast subltle shadow on the floor...

"Tide"

never feel fed up with concept design, but the only concern is now to merge very conceptual idea and high end style..it is a big chanllege for me...luckily i play with my "tide"concept one macau hotel life lobby:

I regard the lift lobby as "tide" because the morning tide bring people out and evening tide bring people back..what a lovely story I love!

My design is a twsit sky garden which compose cloud, boat, sea and sand...surely I don't want it is too arty or edgy, it originally turns into a 5 star hotel lift lobby indeed.

Ian Schrager's banquet hotel

I am always put my eyes on banquet hotel, especially on some hotel owner has design taste like Ian Schrager and Candy and Candy Group. Maybe smaller size hotel is easily to put our design concept into, so this is the reason I am looking for...

Does Modern design come from classical form?

I like simplicity and clean shape of the design, also like richness from details. I believe I should simplify the classical form to my design instead of purely modern. Nowadys, we are doing one Macau hotel with the notion of "asian heart", which we bring extremly bright and fresh color into the space but inlay some beautiful and linear dark wood and leather. For me, asian heart might not be seen, but can feel. So we creat western looking with little asian elements...maybe only 10%.

carlo scarpa change my mind

No hesitation to be big fan of Italian giant and architect Carlo Scapa, although he is dead many years ago.His used to follow Mr.wright and Kan, then get his own design language. His main work is almost regenerate old building in remote area, so you can smell this artist really fall in love with culture.

Reading his work, we should focus on details, which indicate timeless beauty.

Shenzhen Ritz Calton Hotel sketches

Macau Banyan Tree hotel design

This banyan tree hotel takes 2 years to design from space planning to concept, then design development. So far we have done typical suite mock up and many public space design, the design is oriental resort style, but slightly colonial and modern than others rustic resort in asian area.

Looking back 2 years design in this hotel, tons of draft have been done by my hands. I would like to share this unfinished pleasure with my friends here, who also have passion of hospitality design. Maybe we could find out a new way for our future.
